The Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza is the world’s largest charitable ice fishing contest. We have held it annually since January 1991 and have donated $2.8-million to over 50 area charities because of its success.

Well-known for the Extravaganza, the Brainerd Jaycees wanted to establish a summer event, so in 2002 Streetfest was born. True to the original goal of bringing barbecue to the Brainerd Lakes, the Jaycees hosted a national and local barbecue competition and live music festival. Over the years, the nature of the event has changed a bit but has always included the Cub Foods Rib Fest, a local barbecue competition judged by the participants who select the best ribs, best chicken, and best decorated booth.

The Brainerd Jaycees Run for the Lakes has grown tremendously since the first event in 2008. Despite the unforgettable first year blizzard, the event now draws more than 1,000 runners who wind their way through remarkable northwoods scenery. The all-volunteer race is organized from start to finish by Jaycees and carried out with the support of over one hundred members of the community and several local businesses. All proceeds from Run for the Lakes are donated to local non-profits and focus on improving trail systems in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
