The Nothing But Nets Campaign is a global effort to help prevent deaths from Malaria. The Campaign raises funds to provide quality, long-lasting, insecticide treated nets to families in Africa and is a priority project for the Brainerd Jaycees. Each bed net costs $10, and absolutely nothing from your donation goes to overhead for the implentation of the nets. Ted Turner's $1 Billion donation to the United Nations foundation covers 100% of the overhead. If you donate $10 you can feel safe knowing that you have personally provided a net that will save a life. The Jaycees are dedicated to effectivley eradicating malaria worldwide and we are confident that we will accomplish this goal in our lifetimes.
Nothing But Nets got its start in 2006 after Rick Reilly penned an article in Sports Illustrated aptly titled Nothing But Nets. He called on sports fans across the world to think of nets in a new way; they aren't just for counting goals or buckets. Nets save lives. In the seven years since Reilly's article was penned the worldwide malaria death rate has been trimmed by about 30%.
